The devil’s dozen

Don’t let your triskaidekaphobia (irrational fear of the number 13) keep you away.

Don’t let your triskaidekaphobia (irrational fear of the number 13) keep you away.

Do you walk down the street cautiously avoiding cracks in the sidewalk? Do you maneuver around (and never under) open ladders blocking your path? Do you have an unfounded fear of the number 13? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you suffer from superstition. This Friday (which happens to be Friday the 13th), Madame Mazonga will present “An Enlightening and Entertaining Look at Superstitions.” Guests will learn the history and mystery behind the foreboding number 13, also known as the devil’s dozen. The free event will begin at 1 p.m. (that’s the 13th hour). Those brave enough to leave the safety of their homes on this most-feared day should head to Renaissance at Sierra Pointe (formerly Cordia Senior Residence), located at 5161 Foothills Boulevard in Roseville. Call (916) 780-3330 for more information.
