It’ll be a spoken-word powerhouse when Sister Spit reunites for a spring road-trip tour. Sister Spit formed in 1995 in San Francisco, signed to the lesbian-feminist Mr. Lady record label and performed at festivals and literary gatherings before disbanding in 2006. In 2007, Sister Spit: The Next Generation launched. The group’s self-described “queer-centric brilliance” mines topics related to sexuality, gender and politics via poetry and multimedia presentations. The current incarnation includes author of the acclaimed Rent Girl graphic novel, Michelle Tea; graphic novelist Kirk Read; and publisher of quarterly zine Original Plumbing, Blake Nelson. 1723 25th Street, www.sisterspit.com.
