Photographer Sandrine Hermand-Grisel, originally from France and a resident of San Francisco since 2006, participated in a very American adventure: a road trip. Along the way, she took digital photos of the locales she encountered, and after modifying them “with lots of different textures,” the result is her Somewhere … series. The images are often stark, dark and moody interpretations of the American landscape. Her photos are on display in Viewpoint Photographic Art Center’s America, From the Edge, with varying perspectives of the nation’s faces, places and culture from David Best, Mike Dickau and Toni Voelker.
