Something to sing about

If you listen hard enough, you can hear these ladies belting out Foreigner’s “Cold As Ice.”

America is obsessed with American Idol. We love to watch people who think they can sing make fools of themselves. We love rooting for our favorite contestants (go, Taylor Hicks!). Hell, we even love watching movies that mock the popular show (American Dreamz opened in theaters last week). Why settle for being a spectator when you can improve your own singing? Local rocker Larisa Bryski teaches a two-session vocal-techniques class for intermediate and advanced singers. Students will learn the fundamentals of breath support, placement, and ear training for pitch and harmony. Plus, she’ll provide tips on improving your vocal range and creating a personal vocal warm-up routine. Students should bring a notebook, pencil and water. The deadline to register is this Wednesday. Tuition is $40. Classes will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, and Saturday, May 13, at Skip’s Music (2740 Auburn Boulevard). Call (916) 484-7575 for more information.
