A day to don denim.

A day to don denim.

This Wednesday, leave the slacks and skirts on the hangar and reach for your favorite pair of jeans instead. Women Escaping a Violent Environment staff, local businesses and schools, and you (right?) will be participating in Jeans for Justice Day, a national campaign to help end sexual violence. I know what you’re thinking: How can wearing jeans put a stop to sexual assault? Well, the day came into being after a 1999 Italian court overturned a rape conviction, claiming that because the victim’s jeans were tight, she must have helped the perpetrator remove them. Since then, women around the globe have been wearing tight jeans to protest the court’s decision. We suggest you join the protest. Call (916) 448-2321 or visit www.weaveinc.org to find out how your business or school can participate in the event.
