Who wants to smile when you don’t know how to use your camera?

Who wants to smile when you don’t know how to use your camera?

The day will come—maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but hopefully at least by Saturday—when you finally admit that you don’t have any idea how the hell to use your digital camera. Yes, it is supposed to be easy, which is why you’re so embarrassed. We understand. Look, Jim Miotke can help you. Miotke, a 20-year pro photographer who wrote The BetterPhoto Guide to Digital Photography and is, not surprisingly, the president of BetterPhoto.com, has a few free workshops planned for this weekend. We’re told that he’ll be dispensing simple, practical advice, which in our experience is the best kind, and that it will be advice about digital photography, which is helpfully on point. So, go see him: Thursday, 6:30 p.m., at the Elk Grove Library; Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Arden-Dimick Library; and again on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Fair Oaks Library. Visit www.betterphoto.com for more information.
