A recent study in Washington showed that 75 percent of rainwater in heavily paved cities runs into the sewer instead of being collected as it would in a natural environment. To help combat that flow, the California Water Resources Control Board made the film Slow the Flow: Make Your Landscape Act More Like a Sponge. It highlights projects that people and communities have undertaken to slow storm-water flow and reuse rainwater. It plays Wednesday, February 9, 6:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Public Library’s Central branch, 828 I Street, followed by a discussion with the filmmakers and subjects.
