Based on a manuscript of more than 250 poems and texts mostly from the 11th and 12th centuries, Carmina Burana is a collection of bawdy, irreverent and satirical works by horny, old monks (can I say that?). Carl Orff composed music for it in 1935. Ron Cunningham created a masterwork dance that has become a signature of the Sacramento Ballet. See it this weekend with live music and a full chorus. Fri 7:30pm, Sat 2pm & 7:30pm, Sun 2pm. Through March 18; $30-$89; Community Center Theater, 1301 L Street; (916) 808-51891; www.sacballet.org.
