Sat., May 25, EGG

G Street Wunderbar, 10 p.m., no cover

It's hard to pin down not only the musical influences of local band EGG, but also the time period it came from. It could have just as easily been a radio-friendly 1970s jazz-fusion group or a band associated with the 1990s funk-rock movement (albeit a more eclectic version of that sound). For the record, it's a relatively new band. Its melting pot of sounds includes elements of jazz, punk and psychedelic rock—to the point that these individual styles are practically unrecognizable. The singer occasionally pulls out a trumpet, too. How cool is that? Plus, the group's Facebook page is fertile with egg references and puns. 228 G Street in Davis, http://eggeth.com.
