Brothers Andrew and Daniel Aged started making music in 2010 under the name Teen, Inc. Eventually, they dropped the youthful descriptor—and that's a good thing, because their sound is decidedly grown-up. The Los Angeles-based duo crafts R&B jams that skirt tradition with spooky punk and goth touches—think Beck at his funkiest, or Prince at his most subversively suave. Their 2013 record No World marries a classically smooth and sinewy approach with a dance-floor vibe—and then coats it all with an ethereal sheen. It's fitting, really, for a band that's found a home on the legendary indie record label 4AD. 1000 K Street,
