Emerging from the bowels of Chula Vista in the late 1970s, the Zeros’ punk rock was fast and loud, causing some to refer to them as “the Mexican Ramones.” After relocating to San Francisco in ’79, they made a name for themselves as one of the most volatile acts in the city: riots, cockfights, police beat-downs. During one infamous show, the band played a set consisting of their single “Beat Your Heart Out” repeated eight times. That’s pretty punk-rock. Then again, Coldplay gets away with playing the same song over and over again at its concerts, too. 1400 Alhambra Boulevard, www.myspace.com/wildweekend77.
