Sacramento is widely known as the River City, and aptly so, considering it originally was built at the confluence of the American and Sacramento rivers. Also, the Delta, just to the south, adds greatly to the river lifestyle of the region. This month, 20th Street Art Gallery is exhibiting an art show that celebrates what is so near to Sacramento’s heart. The River Show is a group exhibition featuring 24 of the area’s most popular and significant artists, including Gregory Kondos, Patrick Dullanty and Gary Pruner. A large space filled with a few paintings by each of these artists offers many contrasting views of Sacramento’s waterways. This show illustrates regional pride, from an image of the Delta King (a popular local riverboat from the 19th century) at the confluence to a painting of a water skier in the Delta, or even the more serene images of hidden areas along the many banks. The gallery is located at 911 20th Street, and the show runs through August 2.
