Popgun

n.u. machine

Popgun has released another pop gem of an album, the band’s second release under its current name (having released two others as its previous incarnation, 100 Acre Wood). This disc plays to Popgun’s strengths: pop songwriting loaded with hooks and Mark Harrod’s vocals. Each of the other members—Kevin Harrod, Andy Conway, Larry Carr and Steve Amaral—makes his own key melodic or rhythmic contributions. Mark added his silky voice and wrote all the songs except one, which he co-authored. The songs on n.u. machine will stick in the corner of your ear; days later, you’ll catch yourself humming the tunes as they find a path to your mouth. If there’s any justice in the musical world (ha!), soon people besides Sacramentans will be caught up in the Popgun machine.
