“Willburrr!” Of course, of course, “A Horse Is a Horse” is a fine title for an equine-themed exhibition. Give Solomon Dubnick Gallery props for riffing off the theme from the proto-psychedelic ’60s sitcom Mr. Ed for its latest show, which opens Thursday, April 4, and continues through May 4. Some 32 artists are represented, and the way most of them have interpreted the subject matter is far more mind-bending than your average Remington or Russell enthusiast might condone—from John Tarahteeff’s nod to Thomas Hart Benton-style Americana to Gary Dinnen’s approximations of what Carlos Castaneda might have seen in Trigger. The gallery is located at 2131 Northrop Ave. just west of Howe Avenue, and it’s open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. A Second Saturday reception will take place April 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.
