One Night at McCool’s

Rated 3.0

A femme fatale (Liv Tyler) enters the lives of a doofus bartender (Matt Dillon), his lawyer cousin (Paul Reiser) and a dogged cop (John Goodman). This film noir farce has a leering low-life energy for most of its 93 minutes, and switches viewpoints as each man tells his story to a different listener. Tyler is an attractive blank (as the role demands), while the others mope, preen and glower, all to good comic effect (Dillon especially seems to get better and funnier with each film). Michael Douglas has fun as a jaded, toupee-wearing hit man.
