Mon, Oct 5, Steve Earle

Crest Theatre, 8 p.m., $25-$32

It’s a mystery to me why people have so many preconceived notions about music. When I mentioned the upcoming Steve Earle show to my friend, my friend’s immediate response was, basically, that it sounded boring. Let me be quite clear: There is nothing boring about a Steve Earle show. Besides being a pioneer in country, blues, rockabilly and bluegrass, the “hardcore troubadour” is still making significant music in the present that may be better than the music that earned him 13 Grammy nominations. His music is a perfect example of a common denominator between many different generations. Forget your preconceived notions. 1013 K Street, www.myspace.com/steveearlemusic.
