Mon, June 22, Tigon

Javalounge, 8 p.m., $6

Love or hate Napoleon Dynamite, the liger was introduced to the masses thanks to the crackbrain’s sweet drawings. “Bred for its skills in magic,” the massive beast is a hybrid of a male lion and a female tiger. As sick as it sounds, ligers really do exist, as does the inverse: the tigon (male tiger and female lion). So one could say Tigon, a San Francisco-based thrash-rock outfit, was engineered for its skills in music, with enough shredding and screaming to make one want to crave fresh meat. With song titles “The Feeding” and “Suneater,” one can almost smell the musk of the animals that’ll be unleashed onstage—and in the audience. How beastly. 2416 16th Street, (916) 441-3945.
