Summer colds are the worst—all that sneezing and aching while everyone else soaks up the sun. Sorry for the pity party, but my last week has been spent armed with tissues, and trying to kill germs with one of Metro Kitchen & Drinkery’s cold-pressed juices. The selection changes daily; last week I downed the Kale + Apple + Ginger ($6). I’m not saying it’s a miracle cure, but the juice—thick and frothy with an earthy taste and just the right zing—did briefly make me feel a little less sorry for myself. 1104 R Street, www.metrojuicecompany.com.
