Smokey Fig, the Grand Wine Bar

It feels like you should order wine at a wine bar, but the Grand also does cocktails. Bar manager Jeremy Wuerch took them to a new level by introducing his homemade infused spirits. Among his creations: gingery whiskey, basil vodka and plum-infused whiskey. The latter stars in the Smokey Fig ($10), which also features applewood-smoked fig, cherry, two types of vermouth and bitters. Served on the rocks, the cherry and smokey notes pop while simultaneously achieving a balanced, not-too-fruity complexity. 1600 L Street, http://thegrandwinebar.com.
