Memento

Rated 5.0 One of the more original films you will ever see. Guy Pearce plays a man with short-term memory loss, trying to find his wife’s murderer, jotting down notes on Post Its and Polaroids before his next memory lapse. Writer and director Christopher Nolan presents the film in a manner that leaves you as confused and helpless as Pearce’s character, and it’s a brilliant achievement. I can honestly say there is no movie in existence remotely like this one. Joe Pantoliano, an actor I’m liking more and more with every performance, and Carrie-Anne Moss (who both starred in The Matrix) offer strong supporting performances. This is the best film of the year thus far, featuring a performance by Pearce that needs to be recognized come awards time.
