Me and the bean

Nectar of the gods—the very jittery gods.

Nectar of the gods—the very jittery gods.

Or, more appropriately, you and the bean—that’s what Temple’s coffee and espresso events are all about. You like to drink the stuff, but what do you really know about the deep-brown ambrosia? Well, the good folks at Temple Fine Coffee and Tea know a thing or two about the art of coffee making and, once a month, they share their wisdom at special tasting events and demonstrations.

Head over there and sign up for this Saturday’s 10 a.m. Espresso Tasting event and taste five single- origin and blended coffees. The cost is $10 and there’s a 20-person maximum for all of the classes, so make sure you sign up early.

Upcoming events include a Latte Art Instruction and Demonstration on August 9, where you can find out about how the chemistry of milk affects the taste and texture of your drink, how a good barista can manipulate that chemistry and how they create the perfect foam. On September 13, check out a Coffee Tasting and Profiling class and learn how different coffees are evaluated and scored. Another Espresso Tasting will be held on October 11, and you can try a second Coffee Tasting and Profiling on November 15. All of the classes start at 10 a.m. The admission for the Coffee Tastings is $5, the other classes cost $10. Validated parking is available.
