Gina Andrews was 31, the mother of a 6-day-old baby boy and in the fight of her life with breast cancer. While dealing with her devastating illness, Andrews realized the need for more cancer awareness and prevention for women under 40 years old. “When I learned I had cancer, I was shocked to discover how little information there was available that was geared toward helping women my age,” she said, spurring her to start the Sacramento Breast Cancer Resource Center. The nonprofit organization sets out to provide free services, programs and financial assistance to breast cancer patients under 40, as well as educate and raise awareness to young women in the Sacramento area. The center is hosting Blues and Bustiers, a fashion show/benefit at the Arden Hills Country Club on Saturday that will feature one-of-a-kind bustiers modeled by breast-cancer survivors. Tickets are $100 and include dinner, cocktails and live music in addition to the fashion show.
