Magpie’s killer feast

Fried chicken feast for two, Magpie Cafe

Every Thursday night, an absurd, Southern spectacular awaits at Magpie. The menu says the meal feeds two, but I’m not sure two mere mortals could ever finish the spread—nor am I certain it could even fit on a two-top table. For $40, you get six pieces of lemony, herby fried chicken, with crazy-crunchy, cornstarch-battered skin; fluffy biscuits with butter; tangy, crisp pickles; dense, creamy mashed potatoes; vinegar-spiked baked beans; and meaty braised collard greens. All at once. Pro move: Cram some chicken skin, a pickle and buttered biscuit into one oversized bite. Killer. 1601 16th Street, http://magpiecafe.com.
