Lost: Season 4

Rated 5.0

Lost is a mind-bending joy from week to week, but it is still best digested in a large, ravenous, commercial-free gulps on DVD. These 13 shows from the strike-shortened fourth season eschew filler episodes and push Lost past the point of no return, in that they set the series on a course to finally reveal the meaning of the island (it seems to involve time travel, ghosts and Jeremy Davies squinting). Taking its cue from the Season 3 finale, Season 4 is a dizzying mix of flashbacks and flash-forwards contrasting the bleak post-island lives of the castaways with the uneasy hope provided by a group of mysterious “rescuers.” Bonus points: Sensitive Iraqi torturer/island bad-ass Sayid kills a man with his legs.
