Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West

Rated 4.0

Back in the 1950s, there were plans to make the first “story” film in three-screen Cinerama about the Lewis and Clark expedition. It never happened, but IMAX finally has done it. The fact is that the expedition was so meticulously planned, superbly led and efficiently executed that virtually nothing went wrong, making it great history but weak drama. Director Bruce Neibaur and writer Mose Richards fill the time with breathtaking scenery, excellent re-enactments and an abundance of factual details.
