Insomnia

Rated 3.0 It’s not the sex-slayer who can’t sleep in this intriguing but somewhat clinical and contrived crime and character study but rather the cop on his trail. Los Angeles detective Will Dormer (Al Pacino in excellent slow burn mode) has more than a murder and the midnight sun of the Arctic Circle disrupting his slumber. His reputation, past convictions and the domino effect of precinct corruption rides on the outcome of an Internal Affairs investigation that haunts his trip to an Alaskan hamlet where he hopes to solve a teen homicide. Director Christopher Nolan (Memento) once again explores the ramifications of intuition and the ability to feel time with this adaptation of the 1997 Norwegian cat-and-mouse thriller. Robin Williams co-stars as a flighty detective story novelist.
