In The Mix - Video/DVD

A more apt name for American Gun would be Sanctimonious Gun. Sure, there’s a connection between having a gun and shooting someone with it, as there is between not having a gun and not shooting someone. But do we really need a movie to teach us that lesson? Here, on the third anniversary of a Columbine-esque high-school shooting, a bunch of somewhat plausibly interconnected characters explore the issue through conversations no one would ever actually have. I didn’t think a tract masquerading as thoughtful entertainment could get worse than Crash (there, I said it), but here it is. This film, though sometimes well-acted, is one big long rant with little or no dramatic tension and a dishonest downer ending that you can see coming for miles. Shoot me.
