Homegrown: Eat your greens

Leafy greens

Had enough kale yet? Sure, it's nutritious, but there are bushels of other healthy greens this time of year. How about some collard greens, stewed with a bit of bacon? Don't forget to enjoy the resulting “potlikker” broth, too. Or perhaps you'd like some rapini, a.k.a. broccoli raab? Along with its relative broccolini, it's often found at Asian markets and is perfect for stir-frying with garlic. If you're bent on green drinks, then puree up some spinach and parsley—it's not just a garnish! And don't throw away the leaves of beets and turnips. The greens can be trimmed and cooked just as—you guessed it—kale.
