Many of us may feel too old for Saturday-morning cartoons, but I think that we can all agree that we’ll never feel (or be) too old to enjoy the magical world of Disney. Just ask Donald Duck; the hotheaded Disney character will celebrate his 70th birthday this weekend. Yep, it’s been 70 years since Donald made his acting debut in the 1934 film The Wise Little Hen. Today, the duck with the fiery temper is still one of the most beloved Disney characters. Attend Donald’s birthday bash, and you’ll meet Tony Anselmo, the man behind the duck (Anselmo has been the voice of Donald since 1974). Birthday-bash goers also will see performance artist Trevor Carlton create a large-scale portrait of Donald. Carlton’s brush hits the canvas at 2 p.m., so arrive early to ensure a good spot. Stop by Stage Nine, located at 102 K Street in Old Sacramento, from noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday. Call (916) 447-3623 for more information.
