Gone in 60 Seconds

Numerous automobiles and three Oscar-winning actors (Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie, Robert Duvall) crash and burn in this bland remake of H.B. Halicki’s low-budget 1974 fender bender. The autos are subjected to explosions, gunshots, collisions, leaps through panes of glass, a swinging wrecking ball, a large, careening metal drum and bad traffic. The actors are buckled into a glamorized, gimpy crime story about brotherly love and car fetishes in which their characters and cronies try to steal 50 exotic vehicles in one night. Directed by Dominic Sena, who falters here after having made the extremely harrowing Kalifornia.
