Already feeling down in 2010? Here’s a way to get those blues out. Detroit-born bluesman John Lee Hooker Jr. comes by his woes naturally. Dad, of course, was the legendary JLH Sr. The younger musician started performing live on Detroit radio when he was just a kid, and by the time he turned 18, was already touring the country with his dad. While his younger years were plagued with drug and alcohol abuse, Hooker is now clean and finally released his debut album in 2004—at the ripe old bluesy age of 52. That disc earned him a Grammy. Hooker’s latest album, All Odds Against Me, marries Delta blues with touches of soul, jazz and plenty of hard-earned experience. 904 15th Street, www.johnleehookerjr.com.
