The offspring of screenwriter Ralph Farquhar, who wrote Krush Groove, a movie based on the early days of Def Jam Records, Regan John Farquhar of Busdriver has been rhyming and performing since age 9 and has constantly been putting out music. His eighth album, Jhelli Beam, came out on Anti-/Epitaph Records in June. The album features guest performers Myka 9 and Nocando, along with indie-oddball guitarist John Dietrich from the band Deerhoof. Combined with his speedy delivery similar to Twista, or Eyedea from Eyedea and Abilities, his intensely intellectual lyrical content creates a happy medium that is hard to find. 1400 Alhambra Boulevard, www.busdriversite.com.
