For the b-boys

Despite our attempts to lure them by playing hip-hop and laying flats of cardboard on the ground, we were unable to capture a b-boy on film. Please accept this artist’s rendering of said creature.

Floortaktics 2003 is the best place to see break-dancing action since Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo left the theaters. (I apologize, but I just couldn’t write about break dancing and not use the phrase “electric boogaloo.” I thank you for your indulgence.) Urban dance teams will flex their style and athleticism in three-on-three and five-on-five break-dancing tournaments throughout the day. The grand prize is $2,000 in cash and the clout of being the hippest hip-hoppers of the year; $15 gets you in to see the competition. The event also includes a hip-hop fashion show and a live performance by The Cawz. Floortaktics happens Saturday from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Basketball Town, 11327 Folsom Boulevard in Rancho Cordova. Call (916) 861-0800 or visit www.floortaktics.com for info.
