Like mosaics created from bits and pieces of glass or stone or other colorful materials, Mosaic Dance Company, Folsom Lake College's dance company, combines various dances—ballet, hip-hop, jazz and tap, to name a few—into a presentation that is a collage in motion. For this performance, titled Evening of Dance, the company's 41 dances (each 2 minutes and 20 seconds) include traditional techniques and choreography yet challenge the idea of what dance is. Students from all backgrounds are the primary dancers and choreographers of this biannual program led by professor Debi Worth, who has taught and danced in New York, London and Japan. Special guests for this family-friendly evening of dance include members of the El Dorado Dance Academy, Hawkins School of Performing Arts and the Academy of Kings hip-hop dance crew.
