Finish strong

Sacramento Cocktail Week ain't over yet. If you're not too hungover, try finishing out the week strong by attending some official and not-so-official events. On Thursday, August 20, Hook & Ladder Manufacturing Co. (1630 S Street) encourages all to arrive with hard hats and safety vests for “City Under Construction: Manufactured Drinks.” Danger won't come from falling beams, however; rather, three new cocktail stations dedicated to shaking, ice carving and garnishing. The next night, hit up Golfield Trading Post (1630 J Street) for “Beach Bonanza.” Expect little umbrellas in your drinks and carnival games. If that sounds too sweet, Bottle & Barlow (1120 R Street) is hosting a pop-up “Nickles & Pickles” competition, where you'll make pickle brine to pair with a selected whiskey. Yum, tangy. Wind down on Saturday with Pour House's (1910 Q Street) annual “Kocktails, Kittens & K-9s” pop-up in collaboration with the Front Street Animal Shelter. Some adorable furry pal needs a home and, chances are, you'll feel much more generous after a couple of craft cocktails. More at http://sacramentococktailweek.com.
