Farmers market update

The weekly Midtown Farmers Market on 20th Street between J and K streets will be closed Saturday, February 28, to prepare for a management change the following week. Midtown Farmers Market was first launched in 2013 by the Midtown Business Association, and they still own it; but starting Saturday, March 7, it'll be managed by Unseen Heroes, the people behind cool community events such as GOOD: street food + design market, Art Mix Prom at the Crocker Art Museum, and Gather: Oak Park. Unseen Heroes has internally been calling it “Farmers Market 2.0,” and its organizers are seeking to get more Midtown businesses involved, add more hands-on activities for kids and refine the vendor layout. There are also plans to partner with the California Literacy Center to motivate kids to eat more fruits and veggies, according to a press release. Catch the new Midtown Farmers Market every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Head to www.midtownfarmersmarketsac.com for more information.
