Family Man, The

Rated 4.0 Wow. This is one of the more romantic, sweet films I’ve seen in a long time, and it caught me completely off guard. Nicolas Cage plays a Wall Street master who, after coming into contact with an angelic figure (Don Cheadle), finds himself receiving a “glimpse” of the life he would’ve had if he decided to marry his college sweetheart (Téa Leoni). Cage and Leoni are wonderful together, and this film is a constant heart-warmer. Its greatest feat is that it takes a fairly conventional plot gimmick and then does absolutely nothing conventional with it. It’s being marketed as standard holiday schmaltz, and nothing could be further from the truth. This is a movie that will be appreciated for years to come.
