Emperor’s New Groove, The

Rated 3.0 This is by no means a classic from the reliable Disney animators, but an enjoyable diversion nonetheless. What was intended to be a grand story about the mighty Aztecs winds up being a goofy romp with a llama (the voice of David Spade) and an affable, portly man (John Goodman). Some inspired looniness makes up for the weak, substituted plot. One very good thing came out of Disney’s abortion of the film’s original concept: A bunch of Sting songs were cut from the soundtrack. Christmas comes early for holiday moviegoers!
