Eddie Vedder almost ruined the ’90s. Almost.

Here’s a concept: A London club, Blow Up, which began in 1993 in England during the height of Britpop, will celebrate its 16th year … with a party in Sacramento. Hey, I’m not complaining; there’ll be performances by Th’ Losin Streaks, a ’60s-inspired fashion show by Opaline’s Closet, and a deejay set by Blow Up founder and deejay Paul Tunkin. OK, so let’s travel back to the early ’90s: grunge, Eddie Vedder overload, hair lice—Tunkin couldn’t stand it, so started an anti-grunge club, one Blow Up, injecting the scene with some much-needed style, attitude and cinched waists. The result was bands like Blur and Pulp (and one of the best pop-rock albums of all time, Parklife). Don’t be a tosser: Show up, if anything, for the free Ben Sherman giveaways.
