Borat

Rated 3.0

A TV journalist from Kazakhstan (Sacha Baron Cohen) travels to the United States, where he becomes obsessed with Pamela Anderson and hits the road for Hollywood to make her his wife, “Kazakhstan-style.” British comic Cohen expands on one of his alter egos from his TV series Da Ali G Show to take a mockumentary cross-country look at America’s heartland. Cohen will do anything for a laugh, and he gets quite a few. He’s fearless in the sense that he doesn’t care who he humiliates, but while some of his victims have it coming, others just happen to be in the wrong place when he feels like making fun of someone. Targets of Cohen’s sadistic humor aren’t quite as universal as he lets on—unless perhaps he’s planning a sequel where he ridicules Muslims, Democrats, East Coast intellectuals and people in wheelchairs.
