Jesse Hazelip’s art uses war imagery from the past, and specifically World War II, to remind us, again, that we keep making the same mistakes over and over (read: Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.). The work shown at Tempest Turner (Hazelip’s show, the title derived from the name of a World War II bomber), employs various contemporary media—wheat paste, silk-screen, salvaged materials—which speaks to the political styling of the artist. At Space 07, 1421 R Street; (916) 444-7474; opening reception on Second Saturday, June 13, from 5 to 10 p.m.; through August 7.
