Filipino-Americans have made a lasting impact on hip-hop culture. From the Neptunes to Mix Master Mike and the Jabbawockeez, Filipinos have rapped, scratched, popped and locked themselves into hip-hop history. Coinciding with the national Filipino American History Month, Beats and Lumpia celebrates the achievements of these talented artists. Taking place at Sol Collective, local and Bay Area dancers, deejays, rappers and visual artists will showcase their talent live. Though it celebrates the achievements of Filipino-Americans, the event is open to all cultures and ages. Proceeds will benefit local companies Shine Clothing and Sol Collective. Free lumpia is provided with admission, and more Philippine cuisine will be available for purchase. Local rapper Task1ne will host.
