The Longest Yard

Rated 2.0

This Adam Sandler remake of the not-so-good Burt Reynolds original about prison football stinks. It looks like it could be an improvement over its predecessor, judging by its opening minutes. By the time it reaches its final moments, this hack job has deteriorated into garbage. Sandler plays an ex-pro quarterback who gets jailed for crashing his girlfriend’s car after a drunk-driving spree. He’s then coerced into forming a ragtag team of prison inmates to challenge prison guards, all under the supervision of an evil warden (James Cromwell). This is the third Adam Sandler film that director Peter Segal has done, and none of them are good. Also stars Chris Rock and former football star Michael Irvin.
