Fire it up

Ignite the spirit of Burning Man a little early this year at Ignition.

The annual Burning Man festival won’t start until Aug. 26, but local arts group Millennium Performing Arts is looking to “ignite the spirit and energy of Burning Man” a bit early this year at Ignition. Beginning at 5 p.m. July 13 and ending at 6 a.m. the next day, Ignition will feature a neo-modern dance performance by Millennium called The Nightmare, followed by fire dancing by Controlled Burn and non-stop music by at least 15 DJs, including Dragn’fly from Sacramento and local favorites such as Christophe and EJ Tha DJ. Held on five acres of land at 600 Spice Island Drive, Ignition is open to all ages. Tickets are $15 at the gate or $12 with a flyer, and proceeds will go toward the Basswave Marina at this year’s Burning Man. (Those who donate couches may get in free; e-mail millennium@gbis.com for details.) For more information, visit www.renodj.com/ignition.
