Why Did I Get Married?

Rated 2.0

There’s a reason why I gave up watching television almost 20 years ago, and now that reason is increasingly showing up on the movie screen. Uninspired writing that feels the need to screw subtlety, on-the-nose acting and a basic narrative that feels like it was spit from a scriptwriting generator, albeit with new character names scrawled in. Of course, it’s also a formula that Tyler Perry has built his name on, so as usual you get what you expect. This time around, Perry puts his ensemble cast through the motions as a group of friends who show up at a snowy resort for their annual retreat and immediately set about going through bouts of marital melodrama that seem to be pandering to the Jerry Springer crowd.
