Two colleges in one

Chico State and Feather River announce unique simultaneous admissions

Chico State University has entered into a unique agreement with 1,500-student Feather River College, in Quincy, that will allow FRC students to take classes at their school and Chico State simultaneously.

At a signing ceremony Oct. 9 in the university’s new Student Services Center, FRC President Ron Taylor said he “hopes the agreement sets a path for other students over the years.” The program is designed to encourage more students to obtain four-year degrees.

Chico State has similar partnerships with Butte College, Shasta College and Yuba College, but this is the only one that effectively merges two institutions. University President Paul Zingg called it an effort to make higher education “more affordable in any way we can.”

FRC students who wish to enroll in the program must meet Chico State admission requirements and have completed 12 units. They can begin applying on Nov. 1.
