Larry Wahl challenges longtime Supervisor Jane Dolan for her post

Larry Wahl, longtime Chico city councilman and lone conservative on the current panel, is looking for a seat on the Butte County Board of Supervisors.

The outspoken city leader filed election paperwork on Friday (March 12), the last day to do so. Wahl will be squaring off against veteran Chico Supervisor Jane Dolan for her 2nd District seat in the June primary election. Dolan has held the post for more than 31 years.

In a statement sent to the CN&R, Dolan said she will continue to protect Chico’s Greenline and advocate for the ag community. She also plans to fight for quality development to help expand the economy, and to focus on buoying strong sheriff and fire services, among other things.

Meanwhile, fellow Chico-area Supervisor Maureen Kirk, who is seeking a second term, is facing an opponent for her District 3 seat. Her challenger is Ernest Spears (www.spearsforsupervisor.com), a conservative who lists his No. 1 goal as focusing on business retention and development to bring jobs to the county.
