Spring cleaning, eco-style

Give up the chemicals by mixing your own cleaning products

Ah, spring. The fresh air, flowers blooming, toxic cleaning products. Wait, what? One of these things is not like the other. Yep, we’re talking about the toxins. This year, when you’re tackling spring cleaning, think about going green. There are plenty of ways to spruce up and degrunge the home without using harmful chemicals.

Did you know that a simple mixture of three parts baking soda to one part water makes a good stain remover for kitchens and bathrooms? And then there’s vinegar, which is a great window cleaner. Use old crunched up newspapers rather than paper towels to get a streak-free shine. Sure, you may have to use a little more elbow grease, but you’ll save money and your lungs.
