Shooting, times two

One Chico shooter gets nine years in prison, another is being sought by police

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey released a video to local media last week showing a Chico gangbanger nearly hitting himself in the foot during a drive-by shooting about a year ago.

On Thursday (May 12), Erick Lara, 25, who isn’t much of a marksman, was sentenced to nine years in state prison for his attack on the family home of a rival gang member in Chapmantown. Out of four additional shots, Lara landed two, striking the front lawn and the front porch.

“Both the people in the home and Mr. Lara were very fortunate that no one was harmed by Lara’s moronic conduct,” Ramsey said in a press release.

Speaking of shots fired, Chico police detectives are investigating an attempted murder of a Hispanic man that took place Saturday evening (May 14) on the 200 block of Rio Lindo Avenue. Anyone with info is asked to contact the Chico Police Department at 897-4900.
