Relief is in sight

Ever been hanging on the north side of One-Mile’s Sycamore Pool and needed to heed nature’s call? It’s a short swim to the restrooms on the other side, but it’s a longish walk, especially if you really need to go.

Relief is on the way. On Tuesday (June 3) the Chico City Council voted to reallocate $150,000 in Proposition 40 bond funds originally intended for a bridge in Upper Park to build a restroom on the north side of the swimming area. Another $20,000 will be spent to build a play structure in Children’s Playground, said Interim Assistant City Manager Dennis Beardsley.

After the council requested the facility be made as “green” as possible, it voted 6-0, with Councilwoman Ann Schwab disqualified because she lives near One-Mile, to reallocate the money.
